We are kicking off the new quilting year with a trunk show from Fawn Lanpher. Fawn caught everyone’s eye at our April Quilt Show. Come see what else she has made and then join us on Saturday, September 19th for a workshop to make your own quilted hoodie. We will be using the (Melly & Me – Lexi Hoodie).

Workshop Materials
Supply List
1. Melly & Me – Lexi Hoodie Pattern, Yankee Pride has it!
Lexi Hoodie Pattern - 0728238879679
2. Pattern materials required by size – refer to pattern (fabric for outer, flannel for‘batting’, liner fabric)
3. Sewing machine, thread, snips/scissors, seam ripper
4. Cutting mat, rotary cutter, an iron and ironing pad/board.
I suggest attendees cut all their fabric for block construction prior to class so we can get right into designing and getting pieces built during the workshop.
Optional Considerations:
I made the hoodie longer so grab a couple extra fat quarters if you are thinking of making it a tunic style. Remember this will also mean you need additional flannel and liner fabric.
I added pockets; there was enough scrap to make patch pockets. I have also made one with a kangaroo style pocket and one with inseam pockets, so consider if you want pockets or not.
You can also make a version without the hood if you don’t particularly want a hood, it can just be a crewneck.
I added ribbed cuffs, consider if you would like ribbing on the cuffs/waistband. You may have some in your stash or want to purchase a color that you love. I sometimes save ribbing from old shirts and that works great.
The workshop will be casual/informal. The design requires some half square triangles and simple square piecing, so a fun project for both beginner and experienced quilters because we get to wear it!
I will offer general tips and highlight areas of the project that offer opportunity to save time, alter the garment and avoid any struggles.
A great way to get inspiration for your hoodie is the Melly & Me hoodie sew along on Facebook. Type Melly & Me Sew Along into the Search bar on Facebook. It's a private group you can join. Your request will be pending until you are approved by the Admins.
You likely won’t need this for the workshop, but if you are like me, you’ll want to make more than one and in different sizes for friends or family. If you are familiar with garment construction, use your favorite pattern paper to trace the different sizes. I use freezer paper, recycled paper bags, or a light/medium weight stabilizer.
Date: September 19
Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Immaculate Heart of Mary, 7415 Williston Rd, Williston, VT
Cost: $60/member; $ 70/non-members
