Quilting Retreat
Common Ground Center
473 Tatro Road
Starksboro, VT 05487
CVQG will be hosting a quilting retreat at the Eco Lodge at Common Ground Retreat Center in Starksboro, VT. The retreat will start at 9 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, and will end at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 12. See location on Google Maps below. Information about the facility, guest space, and trail map are included below.
Since 15 attendees are required for any catering service, this retreat will be opened to others after December 15, 2022, if we do not have enough members register. The quoted cost of the retreat is based on 15 registrants. With 15 attendees, including 3 dinners and 1 brunch, the cost per person is $420. A 25% nonrefundable deposit of $105 (+$3.45 for online registration payments) along with your registration form is required to hold your space. If you sign up and are not able to attend, you will need to find a replacement in order to receive a reimburse of your deposit. The price will be adjusted lower if we go over 15 attendees. Providing all meals would push the cost over $500 which was felt to be too high.
Deposits need to be made by December 15. Remainder of payment is due by February 1.
Covid Restrictions: Since we will be sharing rooms and close spaces, it is requested that attendees be vaccinated. We are also asking that attendees test on Thursday morning prior to attending. Take a photo of your negative test and bring it with you along with your vaccination card or a photo of your vaccination card.
Sewing Space: We will have use of the Eco Lodge Common Room which is a large room connected to our sleeping spaces by outdoor paths. The Common Room will accommodate a maximum of 21 to 24 attendees. Tables and chairs are available. There will be 2 attendees seated per table if we are at max capacity. There are padded dining chairs for our use as well. Feel free to bring along a small table (like a Sew Easy) to hold your sewing machine. If you would like to bring your chair, please also bring a mat to protect the wooden floor. Additional task lighting at your table and machine will be needed so pack your Ott lights or whatever else you need to see your work. There are cork strips along one wall where we will hang batting or flannel to use as a communal design wall. We are not able to use tacks or push pins elsewhere. CVQG will have a few power strips and extension cords available for those who need it. It is recommended to bring your own. CVQG will also provide 2 irons and ironing boards.
Meals: Four vegetarian meals will be included in the retreat; dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and brunch on Sunday. A minimum of 15 attendees are required for this catering service. Meat may be added to each meal at a cost of $5 per person per meal. It will be the chef's choice of meat based on what pairs best with each meal. The meat choice will be served only to those individuals requesting it. The original meal will remain vegetarian for those who prefer.
It is about a 10 to 15 minute ride into Bristol where you can find pizza, restaurants offering breakfast and lunch, as well as a Shaws supermarket. There's a small convenience store on Route 116 in Starksboro very near our location. It's about an equal distance to Hinesburg which also offers several dining and shopping amenities.
Attendees should plan to bring their own breakfasts. Potluck lunches will be organized among several attendees. We are asking everyone for a $5 contribution to provide necessities such as coffee, tea, milk, sugar, as well as ingredients for those making lunches for us. Feel free to bring snacks and other food items to share. There is a full kitchen in the Common Room that is available for our use so we have access to dishes, cutlery, cups, glasses, stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, tea kettle, dishwasher, etc.
Sleeping: There are 8 bedrooms all connecting to private bathrooms. With a cap of 21 attendees, there will be 3 people assigned to each bedroom. There are 2 bedrooms that have only bunk beds which will have 2 attendees assigned to each room. These 2 rooms do share 1 private bathroom. There are questions below regarding sleeping arrangements. The Common Ground Center provides bed linens, pillow, comforter and extra blankets, towels, and hand soap.
