Meg Cox - 400 Years of Quilts At the
Click of a Mouse: Great Online Resources to Inspire Quilters
Lots of quilters and quilt-lovers don't realize that there are vast virtual quilt museums that would provide enough inspiration for a lifetime. As president of the nonprofit Quilt Alliance http://www.allianceforamericanquilts.org, Meg will lecture about the amazing online resources of the group. These include an oral history project archived at the Library of Congress, and the Quilt Index, an online repository of more than 50,000 quilts. Meg gives audiences the story behind some amazing quilts, and tells them how to document their own quilt stories. Meg will also explore issues of copyright, so quilters know which designs are protected, and which are in the public domain.

Meg is a writer with a particular focus on family traditions and quilting. Her expertise on quilting stems partly from the 25 years that she has been a passionate quilter. Additionally, Meg has served on the board of the national nonprofit Quilt Alliance since 2005. She has been president since 2009. She writes a regular column for a trade magazine for quilt shop owners: Fab Shop News, and a column on “unexpected quilters” for The Quilt Life magazine. See her commentary on modern quilting in the hit 2011 documentary, Stitched http://www.stitchedfilm.com/home.html. She is the author of the 600 page best selling The Quilter’s Catalog: A Comprehensive Resource Guide. You can subscribe to her award winning quilt blog at http://megcox.com/read-meg/.
